The goals of the workshops include fostering the development of STEM competencies for college and exposure to high-paying and rewarding STEM-related career paths.
Anti-Bullying Training
ROK seeks to empower your child with the knowledge and tools to combat bullying through our comprehensive anti-bullying training, led by experienced educators and community advocates who provide practical strategies and support to build confidence, self-esteem, and resilience.
Social/Emotional Learning
Our evidence-based techniques and expert-led instruction empower ROK Scholars with the social and emotional skills (such as self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship-building, and responsible decision-making) needed to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Group Mentoring
Unlock your child’s potential with the guidance and support of our group mentoring model, connecting them with experienced mentors and a community of peers to help them navigate challenges, build valuable life skills, achieve personal goals, and create a brighter future.
College Preparatory Advising
ROK helps guide families through the college-prep journey, including helping them understand the A-G requirements necessary for admission to California State Universities and University of California schools. Our team of experienced educators and volunteers works with each student one-on-one to identify their strengths and weaknesses, assist with course selection, and provide guidance on how to enhance their college portfolio.
College Tours
We help ROK Scholars unlock a world of possibilities and take the first step towards their college dreams by offering an exciting opportunity to explore different campuses, meet admissions officers, and gain valuable insights into the college application process."
Community Service Projects
ROK provides youth with a platform to discover and engage in various community service opportunities. Whether it's volunteering at a local Christmas toy giveaway, officiating Little League games, or mentoring younger students, our program connects young people with meaningful and impactful service opportunities that align with each child’s interests and availability.
Leadership Opportunities
ROK provides opportunities for youth to build their leadership capacity through various activities such as workshops, mentoring, and community engagement. Our experienced facilitators guide participants through the program, providing tailored support and resources to help them achieve their goals. With a focus on personal growth, teamwork, and community service, our program empowers young people to become the leaders of tomorrow.
Scholarships
Reaching Our Kids’ Academic Scholarship seeks to celebrate and inspire young scholars in the Greater Barstow Area who have great academic and career dreams but need a little seasoning to reach their full potential. The ROK Academic Scholarship is one of the nation’s only true “High School Scholarships”, targeting junior high students and awarding them while in high school. The scholarship is designed to help cover a host of school-related expenses (e.g. yearbooks, field trips, prom, college application fees, etc.).
